Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says the biggest issue facing people on the street is foreign-based renewable energy companies. Mr Canavan sat down with Sky News host Andrew Bolt to discuss the Labor government’s green energy push and how foreign-owned renewable energy companies are hurting the environment. “Clearly the Labor Party is very worried about their seats here … and they should be worried because there’s an absolute firestorm brewing through the bush,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “The biggest issue I get stopped in the street about is this issue of foreign-based, often, renewable energy companies destroying our natural environment. “We have this idea that we can save the planet by destroying our pristine wilderness here in this country.”

Sky News Meteorologist goes through the effects of bushfires in AustraliaSky News Meteorologist Rob Sharpe has explained how bushfires start and how they can affect Australians. “Australia is notorious for its deadly and destructive bushfires,” Mr Sharpe said. Mr Sharpe said close to half of bushfires are started by lightning after it has struck either a tree or bush, while the other half are started by humans either by accident or on purpose by arsonists. “Once a fire starts, its movement and intensity depends on the weather and the landscape,” he said. Community concern over environmental impact of Labor’s offshore wind turbinesEnergy and Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will attend a closed-door consultation meeting today over plans to roll out offshore wind turbines and transformation lines. Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says there’s a lot of community concern around the impact offshore wind turbines will have on the environment. The offshore wind zone has triggered a fierce response from an alliance of fishermen, tourism operators, environmentalists, and residents. “If you think it’s no good to have an oil platform off the coast of New Castle, like one or two platforms, how do you think it’s okay to have hundreds of wind turbines?” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia. “They’ve got the same amount of drilling that has to occur; there’s issues potentially around the noise that they create long term.”

Andrew Bolt slams leftist ‘bullies’ for abuse toward No campaignersSky News host Andrew Bolt has slammed “bullies” on the left for their verbal attacks against ‘No’ supporters after protesters disrupted a campaign event in Adelaide. About 1,000 people attended the Fair Australia's No Campaign launch in Adelaide on Monday night, including Shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister Jacinta Price and Indigenous leader Warren Mundine. Mr Bolt hit out at the “savage” protest set up outside the Adelaide Convention Centre as activists hurled abuse towards ‘No’ campaigners. “It is true that there are nasty people on both sides of this debate, but it is also just as true that the loudest abuse is from the left,” he said. Mr Bolt also denounced an attack from a ‘No’ campaigner for making a comment about Stan Grant’s skin colour. “No to bullying, no to lectures from people abusing their positions to lecture the lower classes about how they should vote,” he added.

NSW Premier Chris Minns warned the state could be facing a “horror summer period” and asked Australians living in New South Wales to be prepared. “Here we go again – the media full of horror stories about catastrophic fire conditions,” Mr Bolt said. “Australia seems to be a land filled with people who are stuffed with earth-worshipping, climate zeal when what we really need is firefighters and dam builders. “That’s what we really need – less voodoo and more can-do.”
