A driver in the UK caused an explosion inside his car after spraying too much aerosol and lighting a cigarette.

Emergency services were called to Fountain Street, Halifax in West Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon after reports of an explosion. Fire and rescue crews were able to extinguish the flames and tweeted a photo of the damage saying: "Excessive use of an air freshener was the cause. When the driver lit a cigarette, the outcome was dramatic."

Emergency services were called to a street in Halifax on Saturday after a car exploded when a man lit a cigarette after spraying air freshener. "What an enormous bang. I was in an adjacent bar. Emergency services on scene in moments," Craig Chew-Moulding, a witness tweeted with photos from the scene.West Yorkshire Police told Manchester Evening News the driver had used an air freshener in his poorly ventilated car before lighting his cigarette.
