Victoria Police fatally shot a woman after she stabbed her mother to death in Melbourne's northeast.
A concerned member of the public contacted Victoria Police on Friday night, informing them that a woman was setting her mother on fire.
She continued to stab her mother and did not drop the weapon, resulting in the two police officers firing their weapons. Acting Superintendent Scott Colson told media on Saturday that the responding officers “were left with no other choice” but to shoot the daughter. Acting Superintendent Scott Colson stood behind responding police officers’ decision to fire his weapon.
