Queensland records 714 new cases of COVID-19, from 29,918 tests, according to Treasurer Cameron Dick.
"It won't surprise us at all, that over the next couple of days, the numbers get substantially higher," he said.
Dr Gerrard said the majority of the cases recorded in the past two weeks had been under the age of 35.Dr Gerrard said 55 Hospital and Health Service employees from across the state had COVID-19 and more than 300 staff were in quarantine after being deemed a close contact. Dr Gerrard said in total the state had recorded 5,032 cases during the pandemic, with more than half of those recorded since December 13, when borders opened.Dr Gerrard said he was concerned pregnant women in Queensland were not coming forward to get vaccinated.
