Agriculture Minister Murray Watt has taken a swipe at his predecessor David Littleproud over comments made about foot and mouth disease.

Indonesia is currently battling a foot and mouth disease outbreak, which has sparked fears it could spread to Australia and cripple the $80 billion livestock industry.

Picture: NCARoutine retail surveillance had detected particles of FMD in two pork products imported from China as well as several items found on sale in Melbourne that also tested positive for African swine flu.

In an interview with Sky News Australia, Mr Littleproud argued the mere presence of foot and mouth disease in Australia highlighted the incompetence of the government at the border. “The trajectory of this disease in Indonesia is growing… and they don’t have control over it.”
